2012-13 Chiefs Schedule Looking Good This Year

This team enters the 2011-2012 season with high hopes. After three games, however, they had yet to achieve a win. Head coach Todd Haley lost his job after a 37-10 drubbing from the New York Jets. Interim coach Romeo Crenell did a good job at putting together a respectable season, and the Chiefs finished at 7-9. This was little comfort to fans who had hoped the team would make the playoffs.

In 2012-2013, the organization hopes to rebound and return to what they deem their deserved place: in the talk about the top teams in the AFC West. The schedule starts with a difficult inter-conference game against another hungry team: Atlanta. The Falcons also had high hopes for last season after finishing with the best record in the league in 2010 but being unable to capitalize on it in the playoffs. The Falcons will be looking to make a statement in their first game with a new head coach.

They then head to New Orleans in week three for a game against a Saints team that is in turmoil after head coach Sean Payton’s season-long suspension. If they can pull out a win in New Orleans, it will go a long way toward showing they are a legitimate contender in 2012-2013.

Division play begins on September 30, as they take on San Diego. The Chargers also had a disappointing season last year, and surely are looking to make a run for the division title. They will have to stop Phillip Rivers and Antonio Gates in Kansas City in order to start their divisional record off on the right foot. Make sure you buy your Chiefs tickets early to guarantee that you will be there to cheer them onto victory!

A tough conference game comes November 12 against Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is a perpetual contender, and they will be traveling to the raucous Heinz Field to face the Steelers’ bruising defense.

Two weeks later, on November 25th, the Broncos come to Arrowhead Stadium. This will be an interesting game that should sell out of Chief tickets fast because it is an intense divisional rivalry, but also because it will the first time Peyton Manning faces them in a Broncos uniform. Manning was acquired by the Broncos via free agency in the off-season. Surely, he will put the passing defense to the test.

Some crucial divisional games round out their season. They travel to Oakland to face the Raiders on December 16th. This game could have playoff implications if they are still in the race.

After a game against rebuilding Indianapolis on December 23rd, the Chiefs face the Broncos again in Denver. The 2011-2012 season also ended with a game in Denver, which they lost 7-3. Doubtless, they’ll be looking to avenge that loss and, if possible, keep Peyton Manning out of the playoffs in his first year in a Bronco’s uniform.
